New Wave Album for Warner Chappell Music
Updated: 6 days ago

The New Noise Audio team are proud to see the launch of a brand new production music album released with Warner Chappell called 'New Wave' this month. Over months, we fully immersed ourselves into the 70s and 80s British New Wave movement, tirelessly researching the pinnacle post-punk era in British music.
The Creation
It was then on to the group writing, playing and production stages for each of the 7 tracks. We loved delving into the archives, inspired by the likes of The Cure, Joy Division and Talk Talk, taking note of the shift to a more pop structure and synthesisers.
We sourced vintage synths such as an ARP2600, Fairlight CMI and Prophet or manipulated our own recordings to get an authentic sound as possible. For the guitar recording, we played a 1985 Fender Stratocaster, caked in chorus, delay and reverb to capture the vibe.
Drums were kept raw with a “straight to tape” energy, and processed with emulations of 80s units to capture the spirit of the ‘Factory Records’ era. Not forgetting occasional use of the famous LinnDrum machine (think Gary Numan and Prince) for some added punch and a super crisp snare sound.
For the vocals, we recorded them slightly off the mic to get a thinner and more distant aesthetic. Adding lots of reverb and stepping away from auto-tune made for a perfectly imperfect sound - echoing the detached and nonchalant mood of the times.
